The next offering was a chicken dish. Basically a chicken cut up into small pieces, one piece for each guest, with two small drumsticks as two serves.

Next came butterflied king prawns (one each) which were barely a morsel, dry and hard to eat, as they were in the shells .

The final dish was rare steak, with roast potatoes, carrots and beans the potatoes were still uncooked. Another small serve.

I had ordered a cake, which was lovely and the only good offering of the day.

So, because of the reviews, I decided to take him to this restaurant for his 70th birthday as a surprise I invited 10 guests and we booking for a Sunday at 12.30.

Outstanding meal at Fino! We had the octopus, charred broccoli, oyster mushrooms and one of the specials. The grounds are beautiful, the wine is delicious. Highly recommended.

My husband, has been involved in the food and hospitality industry for over 35 years, was on the Board of the SA Restaurant & Catering Association and has eaten at some of the finest restaurants in Australia!

I should have booked Hentley Farm Restaurant, as that was my other choice. Personally, I would not recommend this restaurant, and I will be telling my friends exactly that. For the cost, there are better offerings in the Barossa. Extremely disappointed indeed!

When I read the reviews, I thought I had made the right choice, however my experience was so removed from the reviews, I felt the need to honestly critique what my experience had been.

The wine however was fast flowing, with the cheapest bottle being over $55.

We started with wine tasting: 3 wines - not a single one was good... And I do know something about wines. We went to eat (this place only serves gourmet) and on my table there was a dead fly. Ok, can happen. 70$ a bottle for a wine in a winery? For 1 year old wines!? A little overpriced I guess... I ate duck braised in sherry with orange and walnuts: there was no single walnut, you couldn't taste the sherry and the duck was cold. Plus there was a bunch of salad on top of it, that I didn't see on the menu. Potatoes were hard as steel on the inside. Definitely a no-go.

The first offering that arrived a seafood mousse, spread thinly on a flat plate, which you then enclosed in a lettuce leaf to consume.

Nearly twenty minutes later, and after several bottles of wine had been consumed, (with only a lettuce leaf and seafood mousse as sustenance), a falafel dish was served which was tasteless and tiny.

Amazing food and service to match. I absolutely love this restaurant. We were lucky enough to test out a new degustation menu; it was awesome to taste all of their options that I wouldn't normally choose, it was delicious and surprising.

For $75 a head, the food offered was a disgrace and I was embarrassed and ashamed to have taken my guests there to celebrate such an important event. There were six men at our table, and they were still quite hungry when we left.

I might add each serve was portion controlled so that there were only enough serves for the guests to have one each and they were tiny.
